Message from the Chair

Our journey began as a group of volunteers eager to protect a site of incredible historic significance to our province and our country. We soon realized our passion for Upper Fort Garry was shared by our community as $10 million was raised in 107 days in 2008 to acquire the site.

Since then, legislation has been passed, designating the site for Provincial Park status and thus, guaranteeing that the land will go into the public realm for future generations to enjoy. Extensive archeological work continues and former buildings on the site, including the gas station, curling rink and office building at 100 Main Street, have been demolished.

Through inclusive and far-reaching consultations with the public, historic organizations, government and museums, we have created a bold vision for the future of Upper Fort Garry – a future in which we hope you will be a part.

Within these pages you’ll see the plans and progress we’ve made to transform the site into a signature city attraction. We look forward to your support!
